i'm NYARLATHOTEP, but you can call me Nyarla! like aliens very, very much.Welcome to my carrd! I originally just made this because I felt like decorating, but after a year or so I decided to put it to proper use. So here's some extraneous info about me:
I really like cosmic horror, but I think Lovecraft is an idiot and I dislike his writing. I enjoy when horror is subjective and experimented with, so I lean more towards psychological horror than slashers (although I enjoy comically ridiculous amounts of fake blood as much as anyone). that being said, i dont really consider myself a Horror Fan, i just like monsters and aliens! stories where they're the protagonists are my favorites :]
I am probably therian or otherkin or something, but I am inherently against using any labels to describe myself, so I don't really care to explore any. I just say I'm queer and a furry and I use the rainbow flag, that's enough for me.
I am the host of a system. If you see me talking about Skylark or Zora, those are my cohosts and I love them theyre awesome

mutuals can DM me for my discordi dont have a "DNI" i will just block you if i dont like you

SOME ANSWERS YOU MIGHT WANT

GENERAL
- I use the username "texeoghea" on pretty much every website, so if you see that out there somewhere, it's probably me. that being said the links page only has things i use pretty often or want to plug
- No, im not okay with strangers calling me they or he or she or anything else. obviously i cant stop you, but if youre gonna bother to check at least try to respect the answer
OK WTF IS KAMEN RIDER/ULTRAMAN/TOKUSATSU?
- "tokusatsu" or just "toku" refers to japanese live action television that specializes in practical effects. its pretty niche outside of japan, as far as i know, but the odds are you actually have heard of a toku thing before: GODZILLA!
- I got into tokusatsu around October 2023 via watching Kamen Rider Den-O, which I absolutely recommend if youve never seen any toku before. its very delightful and fun and i feel like its a good introduction to the rider concept without getting too heavy
- Although, if you prefer more serious media and you'd like a recommendation- Kamen Rider Faiz/555, written by Toshiki Inoue, is INCREDIBLE! Everyone I've talked to who's seen it loves it.
- I started watching Ultraman Geed in January of 2024, buuut I didn't really start getting into Ultraman properly until around June, when I watched Ultraman Rising and LOVED it. Then I went back and finished watching Geed. then i went on a quest to watch every single Ultraman show ever made. which i am still on <3
- Again, for sillier, lighthearted introductions to Ultraman, I genuinely would recommend Ultraman Rising. it's an isolated story, unrelated to the larger canon, and it has all the beats of what makes Ultraman special. If you'd like a look at some older stuff, you should watch the very first Ultraman show- for all its experimentation, it can get rather silly- or check out Ultraman Taro! His story is meant to be based on fairytales, so he gets into some truly bizarre shenanigans. Taro is one of my favorite Ultra Brothers, second only to my favorite of all time, Zoffy, who also features in Taro's show a few times.
- For more serious introductions, there are a few ones I can offer; for movies, Shin Ultraman (2022) is a nice jumping off point as a retelling/reimagining of the first Ultraman show in movie form, complete with references to old episodes and monsters, but with a completely new human cast; if you're willing to watch older shows, I'd love to send you to Ultraseven, the second ever installment. the first Ultraman show was pretty whimsical and mostly featured monsters, but Ultraseven is a far more hard and serious science fiction story about alien invasions and the moral ambiguity of violence. If you'd prefer newer shows with more clean visuals and effects, I'd honestly recommend you check out the most recent one, Arc! It's currently airing on the official Ultraman YouTube channel with captions in multiple languages, and it's been very heartfelt and shockingly emotional so far. I'm really enjoying it. Besides, it's fun to keep up with new episodes every week!
- im not a big sentai guy. cant help you there sorry. what i can tell you is that kamen rider and super sentai are both owned by Toei, while ultraman is owned by Tsuburaya Productions- so theres tons of KR/Sentai crossovers, but very very few with Ultraman. which is sad. i think they would all be friends
ART
- I use Clip Studio Paint to draw on my pc, and Procreate on my ipad
- I don't have any links to the brushes I use, but I either got them off the CSP store or tumblr posts
- I mostly use a monoline brush with size jitter for lineart, and the default calligraphy brush that i've messed with a bit to be at a different angle and slightly wider. i also sometimes use a weighted brush designed by @sabertoothwalrus.
- I'm willing to do art commissions, but I don't advertise them so you'll have to message me
- you can use my art as icons or banners or whatever, i dont mind
- I dont really bother to tag my art on my main blog in order to reduce the desire for fame. id rather people find me organically. that being said if youre trying to find something i drew, youre better off checking @texeoghea than @lucksea, since my art blog is a bit more organized!
